The 2010 Norman Mailer High School, Community College and College Writing Awards submissions have now closed. Winners will be announced at the Colony's Benefit Gala in New York city on October 19, 2010.

The Norman Mailer Center is pleased to announce
About the Award:
The Norman Mailer Center and the National Council of Teachers of English invite submissions for the 2011 Norman Mailer Writing Awards for High School Teachers. This year's competation is limited to works of fiction. The winner will receive a $10,000 cash prize at the Norman Mailer Center’s Annual Gala in October, 2011 in New York City.* Four Finalists will also be named.
Judging Criteria:
Submissions will be read by a national panel of writers and will be judged by how well they achieve several qualities, including the artful treatment of true subject matter; originality; quality of insight, voice, and style; artful arrangements of elements and materials; and overall aesthetic, emotional or intellectual effect. Finalists selected through this process will be submitted to a distinguished panel of authors selected by The Norman Mailer Center, who will choose the winning writers.
Submission Guidelines:
Entries will be accepted online only through the National Council of Teachers of English web site on or about November 1, 2010. At that time all relevant information will be posted and a closing for submissions will be announced.
