AN AFTERNOON AND EVENING WITH RICHARD MEIER
Each year, as part of the intellectual life of Provincetown, TASCHEN Books, one of the Colony's corporate benefactors, will host a fundraising lecture and VIP dinner for approximately 200 patrons of the Provincetown Art Association and Museum preceded by an invitation only reception at the Mailer home. In 2009 the guest of honor was Richard Meier, the 1984 Pritzker Prize winner, who received the 2008 gold medal in architecture from the Academy of Arts and Letters. His works include the Getty Center in Los Angeles, California, the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art, Barcelona, Spain and most recent the Meier Center in Tel Aviv, Israel.
WALTON FORD DINNER AND WORKSHOPS
Taschen Books, in the late summer of 2009 in conjunction with the Colony and the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, sponsored a multi-tiered weekend event with the artist Walton Ford. Ford who was profiled in the October 2008 issue of Art in America, is a noted painter and printmaker. A benefit dinner at the Mailer home was held and the the next day the Museum hosted a public lecture and slide presentation of Mr. Ford's work.
