TRAVEL TO PROVINCETOWN

Provincetown has a history of tolerance since its incorporation as a town in 1727. An open-mindedness pervades this small community, which is, in essence, only two streets wide. You can live and work quite undisturbed and you will likely blend quite easily into the mosaic that is the town.

The town itself hugs the harbor on the inner “arm” of Cape Cod. The town of Provincetown is 90% National Seashore and the natural beauty adds much to the experience of being here. Bicycle travel and on foot are the best ways to experience Provincetown. Bike trails through the dunes and seashore are plentiful as well as on the main streets, which can become quite congested during the summer and the closer one ventures to the town’s center. You will never be far from a view of the harbor on one side of the town, and from the other, the ocean. If you enjoy visiting the beach, a swimsuit, towels and lotion will be essential for you. Weather is changeable and it often gets quite cool at night. Casual comfort is the norm: shorts, T-shirts and sandals. Dressing up is not required for dinner. Packing a sweater or sweatshirt and rain gear is advisable. You will find a supermarket and health clubs within a short bicycle ride or walk, in addition to a health food store, and many specialty shops for clothing, home goods and necessities. However, computer-related supplies and art materials are not easily found.
